In the words of Yehudi Menuhin, “Music is the voice
of the universe, it is the voice of humanity and is part of
our existence. Good music is the harmonisation of all the
vibrations of which matter consists, and it restores us to
ourselves and to our universe. I have always felt that music
is basically therapeutic.” (1984)
Music
therapy has been practised in Adelaide for a couple of decades
now. As a response to the growth of the profession, Adelaide
Music Therapy Centre is the first music therapy centre in
Adelaide and the first to offer private consultations and
clinical practice to individuals and groups, as well as being
an information centre for enquiries.
The
founders, Sharon McQuade
and Vineta Lagzdina, are both registered music therapists
who are committed to bringing the therapeutic benefits of
music to people with special needs.
